🎣 Fish of the Month – Official Rules & Guidelines

Welcome to Fish of the Month (FOTM) where we feature a new freshwater fish species every month. With each new fish comes new information and a task list with point values. To compete, submit a photo of your catch for the task you wish to earn points for. The participant with the most points will be crowned that month’s “Angler of the Month.” (more prizes to come!)

Read the rules below to make sure your submission qualifies and you're eligible to win!

📅 How It Works

-Each month, a new freshwater fish species is selected. -Catch the featured fish anytime during that month. -Submit your photo or video using the Google Form or by tagging or messaging us directly on Instagram or TikTok. -At the end of the month, one winner will be chosen based on a secret judging criterion (not just biggest!). -The winner gets featured on our page — and maybe even a special prize!

You can enter in any of the following ways: -📝 Submit via Google Form (best method) -📩 DM your photo/video + name to @fishofthemonth on Instagram -🏷️ Tag @fishofthemonth in your post (IG, TikTok, or YouTube) -📧 Email your submission to thefishofthemonth@gmail.com

🖼️ Submission Guidelines

-Every submission must feature a unique fish -Fish must be caught during the current month -Submissions must be your own original photo or video -The fish must be the species of the month (or a clearly valid hybrid) -You can be in the photo, or just the fish is fine -Try to choose that task with the highest point value that your catch qualifies for. -Tell us where and how you caught it (optional, but fun!)

📋 The Tasklist

To keep things fun and fair, there will always be a minimum of 6 tasks to complete. Tasks are assigned point values based on accessibility and difficulty. If you have any questions or suggestions about our balancing, feel free to reach out! Task can range from:

-Catching the fish of the month above or below a certain size -Catching the FOTM using a specific lure, bait, or technique -Catching the FOTM within a certain time slot -And much more!

🏆 Prizes

At the end of each month, the participant with the most points from submissions will be crowned that month’s “Angler of the month.” Regarding rewards:

-Winner may (if desired) be featured in the months closing video -Winners will be featured in our Instagram/TikTok/Youtube bio for the next month -Winners will be saved in our archive of past winners -More prizes on the way, so stay tuned

🌍 Who Can Enter

-Open to all ages and skill levels -Must have permission from a parent/guardian if under 13 -Location does not matter as long as you have access to the featured species

🚫 Disqualifications

We reserve the right to disqualify submissions that:

-Are clearly stolen, AI-generated, or fake -Promote harmful or illegal behavior -Violate platform community guidelines -Present excessive gore or damage to the fish

🛡️ Privacy & Content Usage

By submitting your catch via the Home page of www.fishofthemonth.com, you agree to have your picture subject to human review, and that the image can be shared on official Fish of the Month social media. When submitting your catch through the google form, you will be asked if we have permission to share your photo. We will respect your choice and only the information you specify can be shared. We will not share any contact or personal information other than what you specify we can share (if your name is on your profile, and you allow us to shoutout your profile, that information is public and may be shared even if not specifically asked to share).
